Basic Forum/RP Rules
Normal Forum Rules
These rules are the ones you should be following just as a normal forum-goer:
1. Do not start drama. Anyone who makes a private conflict public will be banned. If you have a problem, PM the admins about it. Or, since we're all intelligent people here, just try talking it out over PMs with the person you're having issues with. However, if we, the admins, hear about it anywhere that's not a private-message... you get banned. Anyone who joins in with such drama will get warned and possibly banned depending on how much they contribute to and prolong the drama.
2. Do not abuse the system. Undoubtedly some people will find ways to make 'perfect' characters that are untouchable. Don't do it. Trust us. It won't be fun for you or anyone else and we don't want to have to create drama by nerfing people's characters due to over-poweredness.
3. Have fun. Don't get uptight about stuff that happens. Though we do plan for this place to be ridiculously in-depth, we also plan for it to be Just A Game and not a way of life, religion, or lifelong goal. Do not jump down an elevator shaft if your Guild gets pwned.
Out of Character Rules
These are things to remember about roleplaying that don't have to do with the IC world.
1. Out of Character vs In Character. Do not let one infect the other. If you're talking to someone In Character (IC from here on) that's totally abusing your character that does not mean you should get all hissy and whine at them Out of Character (OOC from here on). They, and you, are playing a role. Nothing they say ICly has anything to do with real life. Attacks on your character are just that. Causing drama because of the way someone is treating you ICly is a good way to get banned.
2. Don't create a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu. These characters can be classified as being: relatives of main characters, beloved (or hated) by all and sundry, drop-dead good-looking or overly unappealing, flawless or hugely overflawed, and just generally self-insertion ego-cushions. If your character reminds me of such characters as Ichigo from Bleach, a vampire (any old one will do), Sailor Moon, Ebony Way, or anything else that leans toward one extreme or the other of perfection or perfect imperfection... I will ask you kindly to re-think your character application.
3. Actually creating a character based off of any existing character from any source I know of will be reason for me to ask you to re-think it. We don't need cross-overs, even if you disguise your character to blend in with the Avatar world.
4. Pay attention to the setting and how it has changed. Read up on the story and what has been done since the story started. Remember that it is now 100 years after the events of Avatar and the whole cast from the show has passed on. There is no more anti-Fire-nation hatred and, by and large, the nations themselves have been dissolved in favor of melting-pot 'countries'.
5. You cannot be the Avatar. She is a non-player character who does not participate in Guild Combat.
In Character Rules
Rules to remember while playing your character
1. ICA = ICC. Or, in other words: In Character Actions have In Character Consequences. If you RP your character blatantly insulting the Guild Master of a rival Guild then, probably, the Guild members of that Guild are gonna come want to have a little 'talk' with you. With their swords. You may think you're clever and avoid combat by simply refusing to step into the PVP area at this point, but to do so would get your character labeled (rightly) as a coward and braggart. Denying this and insisting that it's your right to decide whether you go to PVP or not would be a drama seed, and would get you warned. Do not just -do- things and expect nothing to happen because of them. Even though RP does not directly effect the PVP system, remember that generally PVP happens -because- of what's going on on the RP side.
2. Keep it PG-13. Relationships are nice, forcing your steamy romance on others? Not so nice.
3. Death doesn't happen unless you want it to. Guild Combat was organized by the Avatar herself so obviously she's not going to want people killing each other over land and prestige. Even in personal duels remember that it's up to the other person whether you actually deliver a fatal blow, and expect that it's not going to happen all that often, if at all. Also, realize that murderers are -highly- frowned upon in the Avatar world and you will be hunted like a dog should human death become your 'thing'.
4. Don't teleport. Going between RP and PVP is normal, but jumping around between countries and areas and RPing in several spots at once is annoying and very OOC. If you're leaving a thread, make sure to pose and exit before moving on to the next one, and please don't try to run simultaneous RP threads.
These are the ones I have done right now. As time goes on I'll probably add more as I see new ones are needed, but these should keep us going for the first little bit.
